BLACK & WHITE GALA is the second curated gala of Novarts Ballet’s inaugural season and celebrates the timeless elegance of ballet.

After premiering at Alexela Concert Hall in Tallinn, the production will travel the following day to Aleksanterin Teatteri in Helsinki.
Both shows will bring together the same castof internationally renowned guests and the dancers of Novarts Ballet Studio Company for an evening of iconic classical repertoire and contemporary masterpieces.

The gala explores the expressive power of contrast: light and darkness, innocence and temptation, simplicity and sophistication.
From the purity of classical ballet to the thrill of modern choreography, every work presented is united by a striking B&W costume aesthetic.
Audiences are encouraged to embrace the spirit of the evening by attending also wearing black and white attire, and to capture glamorous memories at the dedicated red-carpet photo area before the show.

From the Dutch National Ballet, Principal Dancer Jessica Xuan will perform the iconic Black Swan Pas de Deux from Swan Lake, the very piece that earned her the Gold Medal at the 2018 Varna International Ballet Competition: Varna IBC is one of the oldest and most prestigious ballet contests in the world, often referred to as the "Olympics of Dance."
One of the greatest masterpieces of the classical repertoire, Black Swan Pas de Deux is renowned for its breathtaking technical demands and dramatic intensity, embodying seductive elegance and virtuosity.

Jessica's partner in life, Sho Yamada, a fantastic Soloist with Dutch National Ballet, will also take the stage, performing a spectacular showpiece that has been a proven success with audiences around the world and that will make its Tallinn premiere at B&W Gala.

The title of the piece will be revealed before ticket sales open, together with the names of the other promiment guest artists who will also perform.

The programme is still very much taking shape, with several exciting additions yet to be announced, but it is already shaping up to be an unforgettable evening of world-class ballet.

Alongside these internationally acclaimed performers, the dancers of Novarts Ballet Studio Company will present the artistic growth achieved throughout their dance season.
Their performances will include a carefully curated selection of classical and contemporary works that continue the gala's monochromatic concept.
The repertoire will feature celebrated masterpieces such as The Dying Swan, excerpts from Giselle, the Kingdom of the Shades from La Bayadère, the Chopiniana pas de deux (also known as Les Sylphides), and other iconic black-and-white ballets, alongside contemporary creations that embrace the same refined aesthetic.

A thrilling and classy evening, not to be missed!
